Anyone who just got engaged over Christmas will be well and truly on the hunt for that special wedding dress by now. We thought it might be useful to take you through some of the wedding trends for Wedding Dresses for the 2018/2019 season.
A Splash of Colour
This season we are seeing more colours on the bridal catwalk with blush, champagne being particularly popular. Also many of the bridal designers are using accents of black for the more daring bride.
Bridal Fabrics
Metallic fabrics and 3-D laces are also proving popular along with usual staples of silk satins and beaded lace.
Capes and Cloaks
This season has seen a surge in the number of full length cloaks made out of light fabrics such as tulle with exquisite beading or lace detail as well as dainty little capes that brush over your shoulder. Perfect for the bride that would like a little bit more coverage for their ceremony.
Dress Sleeves
The cap sleeve has always proven popular with brides however this years’ wedding trends the sleeve details are more exaggerated with cutaway sleeves, cuffs and puff balls. A few years ago a common complaint among brides was that it was difficult to find a wedding dress with sleeves – this shouldn’t be an issue, for this season anyway. If sleeves are not for you, don’t panic – the catwalk was also full of fabulous gowns with delicate spaghetti straps. A look that is here for the long haul.
Neck Lines
It’s very apparent Plunging V – necks are becoming more and more of a wedding trend. This is good news for all shapes and sizes of brides because this look can be easily tweaked to suit any body shape.
Bespoke Dresses
Moving away from the catwalk for a moment – it is nice to see the growth in popularity of the bespoke wedding dress or limited edition labels. Brides are choosing to go down the route of having their dress made allowing them to portray their own personality through their dress. Not only is it a fabulous experience one not to be forgotten but also a move towards sustainability where everything takes place under one roof.
Celebrity Wedding Trends
Every year we eagerly await the celebrities nuptials to see what they are wearing and what wedding trends they will spark for example Kim Kardashian’s wedding had huge media attention and interest over her bridal style. These year is no different with the hugely anticipated wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who is quickly becoming a style icon.
